Blanket-Making Kits for Karis House

The Nativity Fast is a time for us to share mercy and compassion with our neighbors, and at St Nicholas, we have an opportunity to reach out to a very close neighbor and bless their holiday season.

The House (Karis Inc.), A Safe Place for Western Slope Teens, recently opened an apartment complex for teens that suffer from homelessness in Mesa County. This apartment complex is right next to St. Nicholas; many of these teens are homeless because of abuse, neglect, and poverty in their families. There are over 260 documented homeless teens in Grand Junction alone. At The House, these teens are given food, shelter, counseling, and structured community living to help them rebuild their lives.

The staff at The House is looking to get their teen clients fleece-blanket making kits as part of their Christmas celebrations. We will be collecting funds to purchase these blanket kits from Joann Fabrics for them.

If you would like to donate towards the purchase of these kits, please send a check to St. Nicholas with "Karis House Blankets" in the memo line, or make a donation online and write "Karis House Blankets" in the 'note' field. We will use these funds to purchase the blanket kits from Joann's to directly ship to The House.

At this time, we are only collecting funds to purchase kits directly from Joann Fabrics. If you are interested in other ways to help (individually), you can visit https://thehousegj.org/howcanihelp/.
